I love this so much. All of it, really. Too many Americans want their god to be a Minnesota dad. Speaking as a Minnesotan, I give my heartfelt thanks to the 'Elohim of the Syro-Mesopotamian nomadic descendants of Terah, that He is such a magnificently arrogant deity, and NOT Minnesota Nice™.

Speaking of the supposedly-'backwards' Arabs (when it is in fact we who are truly backwards), I will be getting into the Arabic word for 'backwards' خلف in my next entry in the Chinese lexicography series. There are some really interesting cross-connexions with Sinitic lexemes meaning 'to wear', 'to put on', 'different', 'strange', 'outlying' and 'descendant'. And of course there is THAT Judges pericope about Ya3el stabbing Sisra2 through the temple with a tent peg, which uses the same Semitic root (חלף).
